PHOTONGATE Kick-off Metting
The PHOTONGATE project officially started with its Kick-off Meeting, held at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, in December 2022. The meeting brought together the project partners to establish the foundations for the collaboration and define the objectives and activities for the coming years.
The partners discussed the project’s technical approach, work plan and initial activities, marking the beginning of the joint effort to develop an innovative photonic platform for rapid and sensitive molecular detection.
PHOTONGATE first Review Meeting -online-
On 29 September 2023, the PHOTONGATE project held its first review meeting online, bringing together the project consortium and the European Commission to review the progress achieved during the first reporting period. The partners presented the main scientific and technical advances, including the development of the photonic sensing platform, molecular recognition strategies, microfluidic integration and the first steps towards the PHOTONGATE prototype.
The meeting was an important milestone for the project, providing an opportunity to discuss achievements, challenges and the priorities for the next stages of development. The consortium also presented progress in validation, exploitation, dissemination and communication activities, and received valuable feedback from the European Commission to guide the project towards its objectives.
Photongate M12 Meeting
The PHOTONGATE consortium met in Gijón, Spain, in February 2024 for the M12 project meeting. The meeting brought together the project partners to review the progress achieved during the first year, discuss ongoing technical activities and coordinate the work planned for the following months.
The meeting provided an opportunity to assess the development of the different project tasks, share results and address technical and organisational challenges. The partners also discussed the next steps towards the integration and validation of the PHOTONGATE chips, cartridges and platform.
PHOTONGATE on-line FU-Meetings
Throughout the project, the PHOTONGATE consortium has held 14 Follow-up (FU) Meetings, mainly online, to ensure continuous coordination and close monitoring of the project’s scientific, technical and organisational activities. These regular meetings have provided an effective forum for the partners to share progress, discuss results and address challenges as they arose.
The FU Meetings have supported the coordination of the different work packages and helped maintain close collaboration among the consortium partners, ensuring that activities remained aligned with the project objectives and milestones. PHOTONGATE Validation at ASINCAR
May, 2026
In May 2026, the PHOTONGATE platform was validated at ASINCAR in Asturias, Spain. This validation activity focused on testing the developed photonic sensing system with relevant food-safety applications and real samples, providing an important step towards demonstrating the performance and practical potential of the technology.
The tests at ASINCAR contributed to the final validation of the PHOTONGATE system, assessing its operation under application-relevant conditions and generating valuable results for the project’s exploitation and future deployment.
Final Review Meeting
València
July, 2026
The PHOTONGATE Final Review Meeting took place in July 2026 in a hybrid format, with some project partners meeting in person in València and others joining online, together with the Project Officer and the external reviewers.
During the meeting, the consortium presented the main achievements and results of the project, covering the technological developments, validation activities, dissemination and exploitation actions, and progress towards the project objectives. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the results with the reviewers and address their questions regarding the project’s impact and future potential.
